Kamala Harris Has Officially Been Sworn In As The First Black Female Senator Of California

As of  January 3, 2017, Kamala Harris is the first black woman to become a Senator for the state of California. The Oakland, California native took to twitter to announce her achievement: 

Harris’ victory in the 2016 election was a breath of fresh air in such a confusing and frustrating night for the country. Harris was sworn in by Vice President Joe Biden while her husband. Los Angeles attorney Doug Emhoff, step-children and plenty of friends and family where in attendance to witness her make history. Senator Harris is already hard at work, she announced via twitter that her first official act will be  sticking to her stance in the immigration reform and saving 744k immigrants from being deported.
